U.S. Senator JD Vance Calls Department of Justice’s Trump Indictment an Injustice

U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH) said the Department of Justice‘s indictment of former President Donald Trump is an “injustice.”

On Thursday, Trump announced that the Department of Justice indicted him and that he has to show up in court on Tuesday in Miami.

According to the former president, the Biden administration informed his attorneys that he has been indicted for allegedly retaining classified government documents and obstruction of justice in the “boxes hoax” even though President Joe Biden has also faced scrutiny for his alleged mishandling of classified materials.

Reports from CNN said that Trump currently faces seven counts.

The boxes hoax seems to refer to an August 2022 FBI seizure of materials from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed special counsel Jack Smith to probe the matter in November. Trump willingly complied with a grand jury subpoena before the August raid and turned over materials to the bureau.

Trump claims he is “an innocent man” and that his indictment is “a dark day for the United States of America.”

Vance said the Department of Justice is “corrupt” and called Trump’s indictment both a “sham” and an “injustice.”

“We live in a third-world country with a two-tiered justice system. The actions of the corrupt Department of Justice should stand as a warning to all Americans: if the leader of our great nation could fall victim to such an injustice the same can happen for anybody. President Trump’s indictment this evening further perpetuates the fact that we have succumbed as a nation to a banana republic, whose elite class decides the winners and the losers. It is a blatant, disgusting interference in the 2024 election and demonstrates extreme hypocrisy and attempted distraction from the allegations of Joe Biden’s illegal activity revealed today,” Vance said.

According to the U.S. senator, while the woke left continues its charade of sham indictments, Trump will deliver real lasting policies for Americans.

“President Trump has before and will again deliver real lasting policies for Americans, while the woke Left continues its charade of sham indictments. The American People know what they’re up to and they’re sick of the same tired political corruption that dominates Washington. I look forward to President Trump taking the White House once again and putting an end to this nonsense,” Vance said.

Vance is one of numerous Ohio lawmakers who outspokenly disagree with the indictment of Trump.

U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) called it a “Sad day of America.”

According to U.S. Representative Max Miller (R-OH-07), Trump’s indictment will not stand.

“It’s a sad day for America when a former President who did so much for America can be treated like a criminal. This will not stand,” Miller said.

U.S. Representative Mike Carey (R-OH-15) called the indictment unjust.

“Once again, the federal government is being weaponized against President Trump. The American people see this for what it is – the Biden Admin’s unjust and brazen attempt to damage a political opponent as they ignore the current President’s classified documents and bribery accusations,” Carey said.

U.S. Senate hopeful Ohio Republican businessman Bernie Moreno called the indictment a miscarriage of justice.

“The leading candidate for U.S. Presidency is indicted by his opponent’s justice department. America is starting to look more like the continent I left than the county I immigrated to. What’s happening to President Trump isn’t just blatant election interference from Biden’s DOJ, it’s a miscarriage of justice,” Moreno said.

The Hamilton County GOP said President Biden is acting like a dictator.

“Today, Joe Biden is carving his name alongside some of history’s worst, Joseph Stalin, Kim Il Sung, Saddam Hussein, with his continued vendetta against President Trump,” the Hamilton County GOP said.

Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou also spoke out in support of Trump, calling Biden a hypocrite and calling for an end to his “bumbling presidency.”

“This is another sad chapter in the bumbling presidency of Joe Biden. Americans expect equal application of the law to every citizen. That’s not happening. Joe Biden’s Justice Department was quick to bring charges about alleged mishandling of classified documents against Biden’s strongest political rival but those same Biden prosecutors refuse to bring charges against Joe Biden for the same offense. This Biden presidency must end in 2024,” Triantafilou said.

This is the second indictment against former Trump this year. In March, a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict him over his alleged use of hush money in connection with porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency in 2024 at the end of last year to unseat Biden and “Make America Great Again.”
